WARNING: Personal Entry! :)

Tomorrow the fam and I are headed to the beach for a week! Woot! Can't wait! I'll have my cell with me, but I won't be able to get online until next Friday, so yeah. Today was a cool day too. My mom and I watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Love that movie! ^^ It's such a "feel good" movie. After that Alex came to visit. It was cool. We both chilled and played Naruto and Katamari. Ha ha ha! I know... I am such a nerd, but sitting around with my buds and playing games is one of the best things ever. Without John there it wasn't competitive either, which is better. John takes losing so seriously sometimes and it can get a bit annoying. Me and Alex can lose to each other and just laugh about it and complement each other on a job well done. Ha ha ha! Right before Al had to go to work I pulled out the old DDR mat and we both gave it a try. Ouch. Not a pretty picture. We both were totally out of shape and couldn't do heavy songs at all! It was fun to give it a try though. DDR is how Alex and I originally met so it was fun to relive those old fun times... even though we both sucked. This past Wednesday my parents and I ate out at the Bonefish Grill and Alex was our waiter. Good times! The food was absolutely wonderful and it was fun to see Alex again after a few weeks of absence. When we left I gave him a big hug and told him to come visit me before we both went on vacation. He said he would, so today he gave up his whole day until he had to go to work, just spend a little bit of time with me. That's the kind of act that really makes you feel special you know? :)Thank you to all of my true friends out there. You all know who you are. Thanks for always being there for me!

So my new issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly came in today right? I found this issue to be particularly informative as it gave the low-down on all of the current-gen platforms. This should help me decide which systems to keep, which ones to upgrade, and which ones to totally not buy. Prepare to be amazed...

PLAYSTATION 2:
  • Pros: Games are looking better; Lots of killer exclusives; Tons of RPGs
  • Cons: Multiplatform games look better on XB/XB360; Online gameplay still clunky; PSP to PS2 ports
  • Notable Exclusives: ATV Offroad Fury 4; Dawn of Mana; FFVII Dirge of Cerberus; God of War II; FFXII
  • Overall: Sony's current-gen platform isn't about to bow out and let its successor hog the limelight. RPG fans get especially lucky this fall on PS2.
  • Grade: B+

XBOX:

  • Pros: Multiplatform games look better here than on PS2; Better online network than PS2
  • Cons: Absolutely no first-party support; No new exclusive titles to speak of
  • Notable Exclusives: Destroy All Humans 2; Marvel: Ultimate Alliance; Mortal Kombat: Armageddon
  • Overall: While the PS2 enjoys its golden years, the original Xbox lies forgotten, wasting away. Microsoft abandoned the console a full year ago, leaving third-parties to pick up the slack with PS2 ports.
  • Grade: D

GAMECUBE:

  • Pros: Cheap, available in purple; Nintendo still making games for it
  • Cons: Absolutely no third-party support; You can play the few remaining good games on the Wii
  • Notable Exclusives: DK Bongo Blast; Zelda: Twilight Princess (also on Wii); Super Paper Mario; Baten Kaitos Origins
  • Overall: The the GBA, the GameCube was mysteriously absent from the E3 show floor. We find Nintendo's lack of faith in its own console troubling, yet at least they still plan on releasing four new games for it this fall. Of these, Zelda and Super Paper Mario look like winners
  • Grade: D-

NINTENDO DS:

  • Pros: Great mix of classic franchises and quirky new games; Everyone loves the sophisticated DS Lite redesign; Web browser coming this fall
  • Cons: Wi-Fi online play still hampered by "friend codes"; Most 3D games look pretty janky
  • Notable Exclusives: Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin; Death Jr.: Science Fair of Doom; Diddy Kong Racing; Final Fantasy III; FF Crystal Chronicals 2; Kirby DS; Zelda: Phantom Hourglass; Lunar Knights; Mario Hoops 3-on-3; Mega Man ZX; Star Fox DS; Yoshi's Island 2
  • Overall: One again, Nintendo's unassuming portable topples its technologically superior rival by offering a mix of triple-A franchises and experimental software that utilizes the system's unique features.
  • Grade: A

PLAYSTATION PORTABLE:

  • Pros: Some games that arn't PS2 ports!; Downloadable PS1 games this fall; Cool accessories like EyeToy and GPS unit on the way
  • Cons: Games still suffer from horrendous load times; Publishers still squeezing ill-fitting PS2 control schemes onto PSP.
  • Notable Exclusives: Crisis Core: FFVII; Killzone: Liberation; LocoRoco; Lumines 2; Metal Gear Solid; Portable Ops; Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stores; Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters; Silent Hill: Origins; Sonic Rivals; Tekken: Dark Resurrection
  • Overall: A few titles inject some much-needed pizzazz into an othwise predictable lineup of ports and sequels. The 2007 lineup looks promising at least.
  • Grade: C+

GAME BOY ADVANCE:

  • Pros: You probably already own one.
  • Cons: Very few games aimed at kids above age 12; Severely outdated technology; Nintendo's commitment to the platform diminishing.
  • Notable Exclusives: FFV Advance; FFVI Advance; Pokemon Dungeon: Red Rescue Team; Super Robot Wars
  • Overall: Wait, they're still making GBA games?! You wouldn't necessarily know that, since Nintendo opted not to case the GBA at its E3 booth. Besides a duo of Super NES-era Final Fantasy ports, everything else in the console remains squarely for the pre-pubescent set.
  • Grade: SEE ME AFTER CLASS!

I HATE FILLER EPISODES!!!

I have officially decided to stop watching Naruto for a while. Apparently the anime got ahead of the manga and for fear of not staying true to the creator's story the anime has been forced to slow down, get off the main story, and do filler episodes.... FIFTY of them!! That's right... fifty! From episode 152 to 200 is pointless! x_x I have been forcing myself to watch crap that has no relevance at all to main story for two weeks now and I just can't take it any more! According to speculation, the story will start back up again at episode 200, which is the begining of season 9. At this point the story will jump two years in the future and pick up with the good stuff. Naruto and the others will have two years of training and new techniques (not to mention new outfits) behind them which should make for some sweet new action. I just hate waiting around and watching fillers! Although I hear that if they had not just done fillers the show might have been cancelled which I must admit would have been far worse. -_- 194 episodes have been released as of today, so that means in five weeks the fun should begin. I can't wait! ^^ Until that time I have decided to switch from ninjas to pirates and watch One Piece. I also need to finish watching Outlaw Star. Although... that's not to say I won't watch a bit of Naruto from time to time. How about, ohhh... I don't know.... episode 180?? Geez... fillers suck.

So I downloaded the new MSN Live Messenger right? MSN Messenger was already an overstuffed bloated kinda okay program so it took me a while to decide if I really wanted it. Ummmmmmm.... LOVE! Yay MSN! This new messenger is super cool and fun to fly!!! The appearance hasn't changed too much, but overall it's an improvement. My favorite new feature is the shared files folders. You can have one for everyone on your buddy list. Basicly, you can put whatever you want in there and so can your friend and both of you can totally access any of the files whenever you want, even if one of you is offline! Woot! MSN file transfers were soooo slow before but this should totally help everything. Another cool feature of MSN Live is that if you have any friends with Yahoo Messenger accounts you can add them just like all of your MSN buddies without having to get a Yahoo account! Yay MSN! Keep up the good work Bill Gates! o.O

You will notice that on my navbar there is a lovely link the says "Download Anime". For those of you who have a desire to watch Naruto, Hellsing, Fruits Basket (in it's crappy Jap form), and random other goodies, this is a great site to start with. You can download two files at a time and they will take about 20 to 30 minutes. The only bad thing about Reality Lapse is that the files are all Real Player files. I personally despise Real Player, but by converting the files to this format they are about half the size that they would be if they were avis or mpgs. The quality is the same (quite good), and the files are much smaller. It's really not a bad idea. Also, when you are watching videos with Real Player it does not allow your screen saver to activate and disrupt your viewing, which will happen with any other media player. So anyway, suck it up, download Real Player and start watching anime! :)

My First Blog

So. I made this totally randomly because Colby made one and I thought it looked a bit cooler than Livejournal. Yay. Let's see what's new:

  • This past weekend the fam took a trip over to Academy mostly so my mom and I could look at the massive clothing sale. I bought a skirt (O.O), some more shorts, and like 4 new shirts for less than $50! Woot! My little brother Jack bought himself some rollerblades and Jack and Ben both bought these toy guns that shoot yellow foam balls. Barrels of fun! -_- After that my dad and I went to check out the archery stuff, which I have always had a desire to try. After about 5 minutes my dad told me that he'd buy me a bow. Woot! New toy! So now the fence has a lot of holes in it, my fingers hurt like heck, and I'm having a pretty fun time trying to hit the tiny target across the yard. I'm not exactly ready for the Olympics yet. x_x
  • I watched episode 155 of Naruto today. Only about 40 to go! o.o That wouldn't seem like much except that ever since the Naruto vs. Sasuke Battle of Awesomeness it's been (and will continue to be) nothing but freaking filler episodes! Ahhhhh! I'm getting so sick of watching episode after episode of meaningless missions! Where is Sasuke and Orochimaru??! Dah! Well, I made watching all of the currently released Naruto episodes one of my goals this summer so just because of that and the fact that it will become awesome again one day, I will push on. Wish me luck. :)

Blah. I know you want to know more about what's going on with me than my experiences in archery and Naruto, but honestly I just don't feel like writing any more today so you'll just have to settle with that for now. Sorry! :)
